AZDance's "Movement E-Motion" is a dance program for individuals with disabilities, or as we like to say, young adults with different abilities.
Our audiences say that we and this program inspire, intrigue and bring smiles and tears; leaving them breathless; a feeling of overwhelming joy and delight.
Participants of "Movement E-Motion" (MEM) gain incredible experiences from the classroom through to the performance opportunities. Performing on some of the most exciting stages in the valley with some of the brightest stars of dance, MEM dancers gain increased physical activity, mobility and artistic presence as well as higher self-esteem, larger interaction and integration and feelings of belonging and making a difference. "Movement E-Motion" meet and work with professionals in the field of dance as well as the other educational programs of AZDance Group.
Created and directed by the Artistic Director of AZDance Group, Kenda Newbury has graciously donated her time and efforts to her group of MEM artists and family members. Until this season, this program had been graciously supported through funding by the Molly Lawson and the Arizona Community Foundations, the Rotary Club of Anthem, Kent and Gail Newbury, Kenda Newbury and Paul O'Brien and Friends of AZDance Group.
Classes are available and pre-registration is required as is a placement class. Held on Wednesdays (tbd for the Fall 2010-2011 season), dance classes include technique basics and foundation, mobility, strength and stretch and choreographed routines. Class sizes are limited. And performing experiences are available to those registered in classes and attend regularly.
Coming into their fifth year, AZDance is in need of supporters in order to sustain, continue and expand their educational and inspirational "Movement E-Motion" dance program. It's a need serving a very under-served population. If you think you can assist monetarily, please contact Ms. Newbury immediately.
